Our team schedules delivery to suit your workshop’s hours. We bring the Feature Lathe Compact on a bakkie or rigid truck, protected in its crate with all accessories and manuals included. Before offload, we check the route from your gate to the bay for tight corners or steps. The crate brace kit helps position the machine safely while unpacking.
Installation is handled by our trained crew, who handle all main lifting and siting. We require a flat, level surface and a 400 V three-phase socket compliant with SANS 10142-1. Our team checks the power and grounding with your electrician before connecting, and never leaves live wiring exposed. We keep the handover area tidy and remove all packaging for recycling or safe disposal.
Once the lathe is in place, we run a full commissioning sequence: checking bed level, lubrication, spindle operation, safety guards, and all axis homing. The first start is always done with you present. We set up basic jobs such as facing, turning, and a short taper, using the 3-jaw chuck and tailstock with live centre.
Operator training is practical and done on your own machine. Our team covers safety procedures under the OHS Act, use of the pendant, tool setting, and shutdown routines. We explain how to recover work zero after a power cut. Every handover includes a basic fault-finding guide and a record of installed tooling. Mr Ashlin Gounden signs off with you on operator readiness.
A regular maintenance schedule helps avoid breakdowns and keeps your Feature Lathe Compact cutting true. The routine is simple to follow and suits both single operators and shared shops. Set clear responsibility for daily and weekly checks, and log all work in your machine crib record.
Dust and swarf are a risk in South African shops, especially on the Highveld. Use source extraction if you cut plastics, composites, or brass. At the coast, keep all bare metal surfaces lightly oiled to prevent rust.
If you need service, spares, or advice, send us a message through our contact form. Attach clear photos of the machine, the serial number plate, and any worn or broken part. Describe the fault, noises, or error messages you see on the controller.
We carry common spares like soft jaw sets, tailstock points, and control pendant cables at Sunnyrock. For urgent breakdowns in Gauteng, Durban, Cape Town, Gqeberha, Mbombela, and Bloemfontein, we can dispatch field support when required. Always keep your Certificate of Compliance for the electrical installation handy if a visit is needed.
