Air plasma cutting means you can cut mild steel and other metals effectively with standard compressed air, no bottled gases required. The compact table is ideal for shops where space is at a premium or when you need to roll the machine into a shared bay. Pierce height lock is built in, so you set the initial standoff for each job, protecting the nozzle during starts and reducing consumable wear. This is especially useful for mixed thicknesses.
Fabrication shops get the most value, as this table fits repair bays, metalwork sections, or prototyping stations. Stock Gauteng means quick availability if you're in or near Joburg. You’ll find simple daily care tips and advice for swirl ring handling in the kit, so you can keep cuts clean week after week without digging through thick manuals.
You’ll need a standard South African power supply. Most shops use 400 V three-phase for plasma, but check your incoming line as some smaller tables can run on single-phase. Installation and wiring must be signed off by a registered electrician with a valid Certificate of Compliance, per SANS 10142-1.
A steady supply of clean, dry compressed air is essential. Water or oil in the line shortens torch consumable life, so run a dryer or filter ahead of the machine if your compressor tends to carry moisture. Allow a metre of clear space around the table for operator access and safe torch movement. Extraction is not always mandatory for air plasma, but fume build-up and fine dust mean it's best to vent the area or use a mobile extractor, especially for longer jobs.
The torch height lock is standard, and we recommend keeping a pack of swirl rings, drag tips, and electrodes on hand. Consumables wear is tied directly to air quality and pierce height, so dont let water into your lines and double check your standoff at setup.
A collet tray or consumable organiser helps speed up swaps during big runs or operator changes. For certain jobs you may also want a clamp kit for odd shapes or a torch height lock for repeat parts. If you’re cutting coated or galvanised materials, check compatibility with your fume extraction and wear the correct PPE.
Clarify these points so we can specify the right table for your workshop and avoid delays on delivery or commissioning.
