The School bay pack is designed for South African technical schools and colleges to streamline CNC spindle use and safety in classroom machine bays.
The School bay pack gives educators and workshop managers a reliable way to share a single CNC spindle setup between multiple learners. This approach is suited to shop floors where hands-on access must be balanced across several classes or groups without impacting safety or machine care.
Each pack includes a matched Feature Spindle Kit with ER collets, labelled tray and change-over tools, as well as a quick reference for spindle changes and cleaning. Run sheets for each group help keep track of spindle use and reduce downtime between sessions.
We include PPE guides and signage aimed at South African school workshop conditions, recognising requirements such as smaller PPE sizes and realistic needs for dust and fume extraction. Guidance covers correct use of dust masks, ear protection if noise zones are above 85 dB(A), and safe use of eye and hand protection when changing tooling.
Feature Dust Cell and clamp trays are available to help control dust and keep tools organised. Each pack provides sample checklists for PPE and pre-start checks, supporting educators in meeting OHS Act safety obligations.
The School bay pack is built for FET colleges, TVET campuses and high schools offering Mechanical Technology (Fitting and Machining) or similar practical subjects. It supports curriculum goals for hands-on CNC experience while helping to extend machine life and reduce accidental damage.
For power cuts, we recommend a UPS on the controller and PC to enable safe shutdown and quick restart, with guidance for re-homing axes and checking work zero before continuing. For installation, always use a registered electrician for new supply connections and keep machines protected from Highveld dust or coastal humidity as needed.
