The 1200 x 1200 mm bed on Feature Router 1212 gives enough space for most standard sheet goods, templates, and common sign panels in the local market. This size fits workshops where full 2440 x 1220 mm boards are cut down or where smaller jobs and nested layouts are the norm.
A 2.2 or 3.0 kW class spindle covers typical routing jobs in MDF, softwoods, plywood, plastics, and even light aluminium. It handles batch work in cabinetry and signage without overloading, and the power range lets you pick tooling to suit the job thickness.
USB control with pendant operation means you can run the router from a laptop or shop PC and still move the machine with the pendant for setting zero, jogging, or edge finding. That keeps your operator close to the job without being tied down by old-school panels.
Feature Router 1212 runs on 230 V single-phase power at 50 Hz, so it plugs into standard workshop outlets, but a registered electrician should still check your wiring and issue a Certificate of Compliance after any new installation work. Make sure the floor is level and firm, concrete is best, to keep machine accuracy and avoid vibration.
Allocate at least a metre of clear space around the machine for loading sheets, cleaning out chips, and access to the pendant and vacuum bed. Proper dust extraction is a must: wood dust is a health hazard under the Hazardous Chemical Agents Regulations, and fine dust will wear rails and rack over time.
In areas like Joburg with dry winters and dust or at the coast where humidity and salt air are a worry, keep rails oiled and cover the router after use. If you work where power cuts are common, put a UPS on the controller or PC, its always worth the risk reduction for a controlled shutdown.
The Feature Router 1212 supports common router tooling using ER collets. A spindle kit with matched spindle, collet set and labelled tray is available for organised storage and quick changeovers. For work holding, the vacuum bed secures most jobs, but you can add pads or fixtures for tricky shapes.
Accessories like a staged-filter dust cell extract fine chips and help keep the shop clean. You can also fit a collet tray or tray for quick tool changes. For sign shops, V cutters, ball-nose and straight bits cover most routing and engraving jobs on composite, MDF or acrylic.
Cabinet shops often keep a backgauge stop for repeatable panel edges. If you dont already have a dust extractor, consider a Feature Dust Cell for local capture at source.
