Vacuum table pad

The vacuum table pad keeps sheet materials firmly held on your Feature Router 1212, spreading suction and preventing unwanted movement during cutting or engraving.

Pair it with the bays it suits, and read our note on measuring the bed before a quote.

What the vacuum table pad does and which machines use it

Our vacuum table pad is a fixture designed for the Feature Router 1212, helping you hold sheet materials in place using the machine’s vacuum bed. It distributes suction evenly under MDF, PVC, signboard or aluminium sheets, making sure thin, tricky or flexible stock stays flat and does not slip when routing, engraving or profiling.

This pad is ideal for sign makers, cabinet shops, training centres and any team doing batch jobs or nested cuts. It reduces the need for mechanical clamps, so there’s less risk of surface marks or tools hitting fasteners at the edge of your job. If you regularly switch between different sheet sizes, a vacuum pad also speeds up your setup and changeover.

How to set up and use your vacuum table pad

Fitting a vacuum table pad to your 1212 router is straightforward, but a few setup steps make all the difference to cut quality and holding power. Always match pad size to your bed and job. Keep the work surface clean and free of swarf or dust, which can break the seal.

Place the pad on the vacuum bed, align it with the mapped airflow zones, then lay your material flat. If your pad is modular, block off unused sections with supplied gaskets or blanks to focus suction where it’s needed. Don’t forget to check your vacuum pump or system for leaks before starting a run, as wasted airflow means poor hold-down.

Care, cleaning and typical wear

Pads last longest when they’re kept clean, wipe them down after each job, and avoid using sharp tools directly on the pad surface. Fine dust can clog airflow channels, especially in dry Highveld winters, so vacuum out the grooves now and then. If you work near the coast, dry the pad fully after cutting wet or damp materials, as salt air can leave residue over time.

Watch for gouges or deep cuts from missed toolpaths. If a pad surface gets chewed up or warped, replace it to avoid losing sheet hold or cutting accuracy. Its good practice to log pad changes in your maintenance record, especially in high-turnover production.

What to tell us when ordering your vacuum table pad

When you send us a message through our contact form, please specify your machine model (Feature Router 1212), the pad size you need and the number of pads you want. Let us know if you’re running custom jigs or have a modified vacuum bed, this helps us match the pad correctly.

If you often change sheet sizes or work with unusual materials, mention this as well so we can recommend a configuration that fits your workflow. Our team can assist with fitting or extra setup advice if needed.
