Collet tray

A collet tray keeps your cutters and ER collets organised and ready at the machine. It is a practical fixture for busy CNC, router and mill setups.

Pair it with the bays it suits, and read our note on measuring the bed before a quote.

What a collet tray is and where it fits in

Our collet tray is a simple, labelled fixture designed to store ER collets right at the machine. Each slot is marked for a specific size, so operators can grab the correct collet quickly for tool changes.

This tray is made for our Feature Router 1212, Feature Mill 3-Axis, and any other machine using ER collets and spindles. You can mount it on the machine stand, wall, or tool trolley to keep your workbench clear and collets close by.

How to set up and use your collet tray

Setting up the collet tray is straightforward and takes only a few minutes. Start by deciding whether you want the tray mounted or loose. If you mount it, use the pre-drilled holes to fix it near your spindle or mill, keeping it within easy reach.

Next, sort your ER collets by size and place each one in the labelled slot. For workshops with multiple spindle kits, keep each tray dedicated to a specific machine or spindle to avoid confusion between sizes.

When changing tools, always return the collet to its marked spot after use. This builds a routine and makes it easy to see whats missing at a glance.

Looking after your tray and collets

Wipe your collet tray down weekly to keep dust, chips, and coolant off the surface and out of the collets. In Highveld workshops, fine dust can build up, while coastal sites in Durban or Gqeberha should watch for rust and salt on any exposed steel.

Dont leave damp or oily collets in the tray as sticky residue attracts dust and can cause corrosion. If you clean collets in solvent, dry them fully before placing them back. Inspect slots for wear or nicks that could catch or damage a collet.

What to tell us when ordering

When you order a collet tray, tell us which machine or spindle kit you have so we supply the right slot sizes and layout. If you run several routers or mills, please specify the number of trays you need and whether you prefer wall, stand, or loose mounting.

Let us know if you need the tray to fit a specific range of ER collet sizes or have a unique storage setup. We can help match your tray to your workflow and label the slots for you.
