Filter stage pack

A filter stage pack is a set of matched filters and frames for our Feature Dust Cell units, helping keep your CNC area clear of fine dust and fumes.

Pair it with the bays it suits, and read our note on measuring the bed before a quote.

Where filter stage packs fit in your workflow

Filter stage packs are replacement filter sets designed for use in the Feature Dust Cell, which is our extraction and filtration unit for CNC routers, engravers, and laser markers. Each pack contains a sequence of filters matched to the application, starting from a coarse pre-filter for chips and shavings, progressing to fine particle and HEPA or carbon stages for dust and fumes.

If you are running a Feature Router 1212, Feature Engraver Pro or Feature Fibre Laser in a cabinet, staged filtration is essential for keeping airborne wood dust, acrylic fumes or metal particles out of your air and off machine surfaces. Dust captured at the source is much safer and easier to manage than sweeping up after the job. Using the correct filter pack also helps your extraction fan last longer by reducing pressure drop and filter collapse.

How to fit and use a new filter stage pack

Swapping out a filter stage pack is straightforward if you follow a set routine. First, switch off and unplug the Feature Dust Cell before opening the housing. Remove the old filters in sequence, taking care not to knock loose dust back into the bay. Place the new filter stage pack in the marked order: coarse, then fine, then chemical or HEPA if your application calls for it.

Check for a good seal at each frame. Close the housing securely, then reconnect and run the machine for a few minutes to check airflow. If you notice any leaks or a sudden drop in suction, stop and recheck the fit. Always dispose of used filters according to your plant's waste rules to prevent dust from escaping back into the bay.

Maintenance and signs your filters need changing

Filter stage packs need regular inspection as fine dust quickly blocks airflow, especially with high-runner jobs on MDF or plastics. If you start noticing reduced suction, uneven dust capture or a smell from the exhaust, it means it's time to check or change your filters. Working in Gauteng means fine Highveld dust can clog filters faster, while coastal bays in Durban or Gqeberha deal with salt and humidity that can cake up filter media.

Dont run your extraction unit for long periods with blocked filters as this can burn out the fan motor and let hazardous dust escape into the work area. Keep a set of spare stage packs in stock and record change dates on the unit for tracking.

Information needed when ordering filter stage packs

When you order a filter stage pack, let us know which Feature Dust Cell model you have, the type of machine bay it serves, and any specific dust or fume source (for example, wood, plastics, aluminium or laser fume). We will match the filters to your bay size, airflow and the materials you cut.

Also tell us how many sets you want to keep on hand. If your production cycles often or you run mixed materials, you might need to change filters more often. It's helpful to send us a message through our contact form with your machine serial, bay layout and any special concerns.
